Alan Ray Goff, age 67, passed away on April 21, 2024. He was born and lived his entire life in Mount Vernon, Indiana, where he worked at the ADM Milling Company. After leaving ADM, he spent as much time as his health would allow working in his yard.
Alan loved spending time on his porch, where he received so much pleasure in watching his lawn and flowers grow and passing the time with his friends.
Another passion of his was classic cars. He loved all the “older” cars, but he had a particular fondness for 1965 GTO convertibles. He could bend the ear of anyone who wanted to listen to his “car talk.”
Of course, his dogs, Marley and Harley cannot be forgotten. They were always at his side and were a very important part of his family. They will miss him.
Alan loved life and always had a smile for everyone. His infectious grin made everyone that he encountered smile right along with him. He had a strong loyalty to his loved ones and was fiercely dedicated to their well-being.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Sue Goff, who loved him dearly. He was everything to her. He is also survived by a daughter, Shauna Lynn, a son, Michael Alan, two aunts, Donna Boberg and Wanda DeKemper, and many cousins. It is hard for everyone who knew and loved him to imagine life without him.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Harold Goff, his loving grandparents, Dorothy and Harry Tipitt, his uncle, Albert Tipitt, and his aunts Irene Foster and Lorene Hoover.
There will be a private service later this summer. In tribute to Alan, donations can be made to the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.
