Alex S. Burkhart

Alex S. Burkhart, 24, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Alex was born in Evansville, IN on August 20, 1999, the son of Tammy (Jeff Bulla) Mello and Randy Burkhart.

Alex was a 2018 Mt. Vernon High School Graduate. He later went on to work in the maintenance department at Mid America Clutch. Alex was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, back-roading, and just being outdoors with his buddies. He liked listening to the old country classic music and antique tractors. Alex could brighten any room he walked in with his laughter and contagious attitude and had the ability to cheer anyone up with the “Alex smirk” on his face. He had an unbreakable bond with his group of friends, and he treasured each of them and considered them his family. He cherished his family and friends and was very much a momma's boy. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.  

Alex is survived by his parents, Tammy, Jeff, and Randy; siblings, Drew (Keely) Burkhart and Zoe (Craig) Isaac; grandmother, Sharon Burkhart, nieces, Millie and Lucy Burkhart; uncle, William Lafave; friends, John Chamness, Jessi Sikes, Colton (Megan) Irvin, Cortland Pace, Devan Wallace, and Adam Brown. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Nina Gross and Larry Burkhart, and aunt, Frankie Briggs.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Pastor Tim Ahlemeyer will officiate, with burial to follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until service time at the Funeral Home.
