L. Andy Granderson, 51, of Mt. Vernon, passed away from a long battle with cancer on July 7, 2023, at the Linda White Hospice Center. Andy was born in Evansville, the son of Russell & Shirley Granderson. He was married to Terri (Ervin) Wathen.
Outside of his family, Andy’s life revolved around his fire services. He joined the New Harmony Fire Department in 1993 and later joined the Black Township Fire Department in 2000. He was dedicated to the fire service and gave many years to protecting his community. He also was an avid gun collector and enjoyed going out and shooting his guns. He liked working on cars and being outside in general. He was a member of the Bethesda Church. Andy loved his family and was very involved with his children and their events, including the Special Olympics, helping his daughter during her events.
He is survived by his wife, Terri; parents, Russell and Shirley Granderson; children, Samantha Wathen, Rebekah Granderson, and Kaysen Fairchild; sister, Brandi Abell; nephew, Gage Abell; and many special friends.
A celebration of Life will be held at Bethesda Church, 1793 Savah Rd, Mt. Vernon, IN, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 12:00 pm, with burial to follow at McFadden Cemetery. A funeral procession will take place from the Denning Family Funeral Home to the Church with Firefighter rites. Family and Friends wishing to be in the procession should meet at the funeral home at 10:45 to line up. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Kaysen Fairchild’s education fund.
