Arlene Dorothy (Succop) Carter, September 21, 1936 - May 10, 2025.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Henry and Myrtle Succop. Given only 3 days to live by the Doctor who delivered her. She was born with a cerebral hemorrhage, and because of the hemorrhage, later in life, she was left with half of her brain functioning. She got to wake up 32,373 more days than what she was promised. She used to say, "Only if he (The Doctor) could see me now." She was a living miracle.
She graduated from Shaler High School in 1954 in Glen Shaw, PA. Her family moved to Texas in 1961. She met Charles Daniel Carter on a public bus and got married in September of 1962. They traveled all around with Charles as he was in the Army. That is why she loved to sing the song "I've been everywhere." She had strong faith in the Lord as a Lutheran all her life. She was a Sunday School teacher in Texas. She loved her family so much - in 2012, she left Texas to move to Indiana to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching St Paul's Lutheran Church every Sunday.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Myrtle Succop, and her late husband, Charles Daniel Carter. Survivors of Arlene are her two brothers: Hank (Carolyn) Succop and John (Pat) Succop. Children: Debi (Steve) Collins, Charles Carter, and Holly Carter. Five grandchildren: Charles (Kelsey) Carter, Nathan (Carly) Carter, Elizabeth (Joseph) Roberts, Alyssa Collins, and Jett Collins. Seven great-grandchildren: Addalynne, Aubreigh, and Annaliese Carter...Finn Carter...Danyelle, Michelle, and Joey Roberts.
She was always there for each of us at some point in our lives. We love and miss you. Mom/Granny. Say "hey" to PaPa for us. He's been waiting for you.
