Dale R. Rickert

Dale R. Rickert, 77, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away on August 30, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital. Dale was born on October 3, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Clarence and Josephine (Munsterman) Rickert.

After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School, Dale worked at Floyd Staub Trucking, joined the National Guard, and retired from General Electric after 35+ years of service. He was involved with the Owen Dunn Post 5 American Legion, where he was a lifetime member and former commander. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #277, the Eagles #1717, a lifetime member of the Mt. Vernon Conversation Club, and a former member of the Mt. Vernon Boat Club. Dale enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, wine-making, and playing the lottery.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Kelly) Pollard, Karla (Billy) Kueber, Dawn (Duane) Heberer; sons Kelly, Donald, and David (Michele) Rickert; grandchildren, Brittni (Brooks) Stratman, Dalton (Mersadys) Pollard, Tori Heberer, Ashton Saum, Megan (Garrett) Tuley, Hayley Kueber, and Sophie Rickert; 9 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a sister Sharon Winiger and several nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 45 years Barbara (Overfield) Rickert, brother Donald Rickert, and sister Marilynn Cain.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Denning Family Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with the final resting place to follow at Beech Grove Cemetery with Military Rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Newlife Rescue and Adoption.
