David Angermeier Obituary

David Angermeier (Gutterball), 73, of Mt. Vernon, went to be with Our Lord on Friday, Jan 7, 2022. He was born August 7, 1948, the 1st son of Dale and Ruth (Behme) Angermeier in Evansville IN.

David was born with Spina Bifida but despite his physical limitations, he lived a fuller more generous life than most able-bodied people. He was a testament to what perseverance, strength of character, and a positive attitude can accomplish.

David served Posey County as the Recorder for 15 years and the Clerk for 8 years. He was very active in the community and a member of the St Matthew Catholic Church, the Lions Club, Sons of the American Legion, Civil Defense, Kiwanis Club, Tri-State HAM Radio (TARS), the Gun Club, and many other organizations. He placed 3rd in the bench press event of the National Special Olympics. Most of all David brought joy to any room he entered as a great example of how to overcome limitations with a smile.

David is survived by his mother, Ruth; sister, Theresa Thomas; brothers, Stephen, Francis, Philip, Walter, Thomas, and Henry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale V; and brother, Lynn E.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 13, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 14, 2022, at St. Matthews Church with Father Jim Sauer officiating, burial to follow in St. Matthews Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Hadi Shrine’s Children Hospital, Posey County Rehab, or Mt. Vernon Lion’s Club. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
