David VanZant

David B. Vanzant, 65, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away on April 13, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital.

Born on May 7, 1959, David was the son of Ronnie and Jo Ann (Corley) VanZant-Hardin. He dedicated much of his life to farming—a passion that began with many years working alongside John Schisler on his farm. After John's retirement, David continued doing what he loved by working for various other farmers in the area and later at WSI.

David was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mt. Vernon and found joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a love for grilling and cherished time spent with family. His hands were rarely idle; he enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with anything mechanical or broken—earning him a reputation as the go-to person when something needed fixing.

Affectionately known as "Uncle David," he shared a special bond with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Whether lending a helping hand or spending hours playing Play-Doh with the younger ones, David’s kindness and generosity left an enduring mark on those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Rhonda (Wes) Bird, Mark (Barbara) VanZant, Brenda (Paul) Upshaw, and Sandra (George) Thompson; his aunt, Brenda VanZant; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
