Diana L. Burnett, 66, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at Linda White Hospice House.
Diana was born on July 8, 1959, in Evansville, the daughter of Mack and Barbara (Storey) Shephard. She worked for many years at Platolene 500 in Mt. Vernon, where she loved getting to know her customers. Diana was known for her love of talking and could strike up a conversation with anyone, always making people feel welcome.
Family was the center of Diana’s world. She adored her grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives. She enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors, cheering for her favorite sports teams, and watching a good horror movie. Some of her favorite moments were spent binge-watching Scooby-Doo with her grandkids, laughing and sharing time together. Diana also loved collecting coins. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her gift for conversation, and for always being someone you could count on to be in your corner.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Burnett; fiancé, Timothy Blue; grandchildren, Robert (Hope) Darr, Trayven (Aleigha) Burnett, and Eli Rogers; stepmother, Carol Shephard; her “adopted” daughter, Josi Snelling; siblings, Shaynnon Davis and William Jones; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mark Burnett; and siblings, Kerry Shephard and James Jones.
