Donald Ivan Crawford, 77, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away on April 8, 2025, at the Mt. Vernon Nursing Home and Rehab.
Born on August 31, 1947, in Stewartsville, Donald was the son of Ivan and Mary (Simpson) Crawford. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and remained a steadfast supporter of fellow veterans throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of the Evansville VFW Post 1114.
Donald married Ruth (Holbrook) Crawford, the love of his life, who preceded him in death on February 25, 2025. He worked for many years at the Whirlpool factory in Evansville before retiring.
A devoted fan of sports, Donald rarely missed a chance to cheer on his niece and nephew and many other family members during their games. He also enjoyed watching horse racing and found joy in sharing those moments with loved ones.
He is survived by his sister, Sue Lashley; brothers, Loyd Gene and Dorris Crawford; special nieces and nephews, Kady Blankenship, Malia Masten, Cooper Blankenship, Chad Crawford, and Derek Crawford; as well as many other nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind step-children, Joe Boatman, Robert Boatman, and Angie Hildebrandt; step-grandchildren Tabetha, Travis, and Trevor Godsey, Shelbie, Robert, and Sondra Boatman as well as many others. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew David Crawford.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Dallas Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethsaida Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Riley Children's Hospital.
