Dorothy E. (Higgs) Slonka

Dorothy E. (Higgs) Slonka, 77, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, at New Harmony Health Care. Dorothy was born in Daviess County, Kentucky on July 24, 1944, the daughter of Forest and Berniece (Evans) Higgs. Dorothy was married to Stanley Slonka and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2019. 
Dorothy spent many years in the janitorial staff at a few different companies in Mt. Vernon. In her off time she enjoyed spending time with her best friend, Sherry Long. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. 
She is survived by her son, Mark Easter; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Easter; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and a brother, Phillip Ipock. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gary Higgs and Fred Ipock, sister, Lisa Ipock; former husband, Bob C.  Easter; and son, Bobby Easter. 
The family would like to thank her neighbor, Roger Guth, for looking out for her.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A burial will be held at a later date at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Online condolence may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
