Dorris E. Crawford

Dorris Eugene Crawford, 79, of Newburgh, passed away on August 17, 2025, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Griffin, the son of Ivan and Mary (Simpson) Crawford.

Dorris was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. Even after moving into Cypress Grove, he remained faithful in attending services and participating in Bible study. He cherished his family deeply, especially his grandchildren, and found great joy in spending time with them. Watching and playing with children always brought him happiness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Montgomery) Crawford; sons, Derek Crawford and Dorris Crawford, Jr.; daughter, Brittany Crawford; grandchildren, Kylee, Kalynn, Juan, Elijah, Zaiden, Xavier, and Aleigha; siblings, Loyd Gene Crawford and Sue Lashley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Crawford.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with burial to follow in Bethsaida Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
