Elizabeth “Betsy” C. Boyle, 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on April 14, 2025, at Linda White Hospice House with her loving family by her side.
Born on February 26, 1939, in New Harmony. Betsy was the daughter of Everett and Charlene (Smith) Crumbacher. She earned her RN degree in Evansville and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Betsy worked at Deaconess Hospital and later served as a school nurse in Evansville-area schools, including Plaza Park Middle School. Nursing was more than a job for Betsy—it was a calling she embraced wholeheartedly.
Known for her generous spirit and unwavering support, Betsy was someone people could always count on—whether for a heartfelt conversation or companionship during difficult times. Her devotion extended deeply to her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished and loved to spoil.
Outside of nursing and family life, Betsy found joy in shopping and antiquing. She had a talent for refinishing furniture and delighted in giving new life to old treasures. A gifted cook, she shared countless home-cooked meals that brought comfort and happiness to many.
She is survived by her children: Kim (Sherri) Rutledge, Theresa Boyle, and Mary (Tim) Payment; grandchildren: Leslie (Shaun) Newsome, Kyle (Megan) Rutledge, Sarah (Levi) Miller, and Tyler Payment; great-grandchildren: Mason and Grayson Newsome and Arabella Rutledge; and brothers: Robert (Barbara) Crumbacher and Wendell (Dale) Crumbacher.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Jim” Boyle, her brother, Charles Crumbacher and her parents, Everett and Charlene Crumbacher.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
