Emily P. (Pentecost) Adams, 85, of Evansville, formerly of Crossville , passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at University Nursing and Rehabilitation. Emily was born in Evansville on February 22, 1937, the daughter of James Pentecost and Clara (Waite) Doneghue. She married James Adams and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Emily worked as a cook for the Carmi Hospital for many years, she also worked in the toll booth on the New Harmony bridge for some time. She was a member of the Crossville Mission Baptist Church. Emily loved her family but enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Sunday (Loren) Martin and Donna (Richard) Jennings; grandchildren, Nicholas (Rachel) Martin, Kayla (David) Rees, Kristin Barnhart, Brandi Jennings, and Danielle (Mark) Reid; great-grandchildren, Emily, Jeremy, Catherine, April, Ashley, Logan, Taylor, Jackson, and Ryan; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Donald Pentecost and Thomas Pentecost.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at university nursing and rehab and heart to heart hospice for the amazing care they took of Emily.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon is overseeing the arrangements.
