Ethel M. (Howard) Reeves

Ethel M. (Howard) Reeves, 78, of Mt. Vernon, passed on May 17, 2022, at Linda White Hospice House. Ethel was born in Mt. Vernon on September 17, 1943, the daughter of Alvin & Clara Agnus (Yates) Howard. She married Henry Reeves, Jr. and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2000.

Ethel worked as a cook for many local establishments for many years. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She loved watching the Voice on TV and other singing contests, and gambling. Mostly she enjoyed being with her loved ones.  

She is survived by her son, Michael (Tammy) Johnson; daughters, Terri Stafford (Robbie Schmitt), Greta (Larry) Smith; grandchildren, Alyssa Stafford, Karlee McBride (Nick Gray), Andrew Johnson (Tia Crouse), Jacob Johnson (Tiffany Gessler), Katie Johnson (Shawn Bass), and Sabrina (Kiel) Young; great-grandchildren, Lynlee and Nolan Young; brothers, Eddie (Pam) Howard and Rick (Jessica) Howard; sister, Lois (Mike) Caron, her good friends, Patty Schmidt Cole, and Andrea Hawkins and kids; and several nieces and nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, James Howard; sisters, Ruby Cullman, Louise Nichel, Linda Hook, and Dorothy Castle.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Denning Family Funeral Home, with a burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at Posey County Humane Society.
