Glen M. Nobles, Sr., 81 of Mt. Vernon, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Glen was born October 7, 1941, in Point Township, the son of Pete and Ethel (Bauer) Nobles. Glen married and is survived by his love, Ruth (Rumble) Nobles on August 3, 1968.
Glen was a graduate of Mt. Vernon and after graduating enlisted with the United States Air force. He retired from Consolidated Grain and Barge company. Glen was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish, hunt, and tend to his garden. He was an expert shot with a bow and arrow and won many Crappie fishing tournaments. It was said that if Glen wasn’t out fishing, the fish wouldn’t bite that day. If Glen wasn’t outside, he could be found working on word puzzles. Mainly he loved his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, sons, Chuck Goodman, and Paul (Doris) Goodman; daughters, Ruth Ann Morris (Doug), Marcie Lewis, and Donna (Tim) Stevens; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Boyles, Wilma White, Theresia Elders, and Wanda Huck, several nieces and nephews.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents, son, Glen Nobles, Jr.; brothers, Frances Nobles, Kenneth Nobles, Walter Nobles, and Wilford Nobles; sisters, Gloria Faye Winerberger, Norma Lindy, and Mary Spindler.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Denning Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Eric Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery with America Legion Owen Dunn Post #5 conducting Military Rites. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Denning Funeral Home to help offset expenses.
