J. Carol (VanZant) Deusner

J. Carol (VanZant) Deusner, 82, of Mt. Vernon, closed her eyes here on earth and opened them in the arms of her loving Savior, on Saturday, June 24, 2023. She was born November 15, 1940, in Mt. Vernon, to the late Isaac and Mary (Parson) VanZant.

Carol was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She owned an in-home day care for several years. During this time, she cared for many children including her grandchildren who were blessed to have been loved, nurtured, and taught biblical principles by her.  She was a woman of great faith and a founder of Faith Fellowship Church.  She was known for having a love for beautiful flowers which could be seen by many at her home on Mill Street.  She received joy from spending time with her family, which included her loving husband of 65 years, Raymond Deusner, who she lovingly referred to as Junior, daughters Debra Nickless (Jim), Sheila Coffey, Mary Zehner (Scott) and Angie DeKemper (Troy). Grandchildren Christopher Browning (Amber), Anthony Browning (Kori Beth), Dustin Pharr (Amanda), Dana Dill (Sid), Amber Hunter (Ray), Brent Shelby, Ashley Nichols (Josh), Andrew DeKemper (Alissa), Alex DeKemper (Quincy) and 16 Great-Grandchildren.

The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Joseph Lee and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care and kindness. 

A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Denning Family Funeral, 1330 E 4th Street, Mt. Vernon Indiana, with burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 2pm.
