James (Jim) W. Huskey, age 79, of Seymour, TN, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Jim was a 1962 graduate of Pi Beta Phi in Gatlinburg and soon after graduation joined the United States Army, 2ND Battalion, 25TH Infantry and was a Vietnam veteran. After his discharge from the military, he was employed with The Mountain Press for a short duration until joining the National Park Service as a backcountry ranger. He was an advocate for historical preservation, natural conservation and maintenance within the park and was an instrument in the restoration of the Mount Cammerer Fire Tower. He served with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park until his retirement.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Major “Cotton” Aaron and Gladys Cole Huskey and brother, Major “Butch” Aaron Huskey Jr.
Survivors include his daughters: Susan Huskey-Summerlot and husband, Brian of Mt Vernon, IN, Robin Huskey Hobbs; his grandsons: Brandon Camara and Aaron Ragab; sister: Diane Zirkebach and husband, Ken; as well as nieces: Melissa, Kimberly, Amy, and Autumn; nephew: Kevin; and his beloved companion: Shadow.

The family will receive friends 10 AM – 11 AM Thursday, May 11 at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, Pigeon Forge. Graveside service and interment will follow at 11 AM in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge. Dr. Alan Smith will officiate.
