Juanita Dawn Oliver Smith, 48, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Evansville. Juanita was born on October 1, 1974, on Scott Airforce Base in Illinois, the daughter of Ronald L Oliver and Rosa J (Hester) Cummings. 
Dawn graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. Outside of raising her children, Dawn watched children for many years in her home. She loved to garden and be outside planting and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, and working on jigsaw puzzles Dawn’s biggest joy was spending time with her family. 
Dawn is survived by her parents, Ron & Rosalinda Oliver, and Rosa Jean & Pap(Michael) Cummings; children, Jordan (Nicolette) Barnes, Jacob Smith, and Hannah Smith; grandchildren, Silas, Noah, Arial, Cole, and Teddy, sisters, Cammy (Brian) Daws, Maria (Michael) Brown, Melissa (Dominic) Nocera, and Amanda Cummings, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Violette. 
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 1717 Main Street, with Rev. Matt Watson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Heart to Heart Hospice. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
