Mary J. (Hardy) Chumbley

Mary J. Chumbley, 72, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital Midtown.  Mary was born in Jasper, Tennessee on May 31, 1951, the daughter of Dick and Jo (Summers) Hardy.

Mary loved cooking and spent most of her life working in the kitchen at different restaurants, including Bristol Myers and the former Koodie Hoos. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Mt. Vernon. Mary loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and many special friends.

Mary is survived by her son, Lucas Chumbley; sister, Brenda (John) Weir; brother, Dickey (Kerry) Hardy; nephews, Brian and David Weir, and Jeremy Hardy; great niece and nephew, Alexus and Devon Hardy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Jo; and husband, Danny Chumbley.

A funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Jim Allen officiating. Burial will follow at the Black’s Cemetery.
