Mary F. (Weir) Niehaus-Newman

Mary (Weir) Niehaus Newman, 89, of Thibodaux LA formally of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. Mary was born May 2, 1932 on Mt. Vernon the daughter of Aubrey and Sara (Douthitt) Weir. She married Harvey Niehaus April 13, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1980. She later married Charles Newman who passed away in 1990.

Mary spent her younger years at home raising her several children. She loved her large family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. When she found time for herself, she liked to play Bingo and go to the casinos, as well as fishing.

Mary is survived by her sons, Dennis, Brian, Stephen, Herbert, Cary, and Shawn Niehaus; daughters, Susan Authement, Terri Niehaus, Denise Miller, and Sherri Niehaus; over 300 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sons, David, Lester, and Jerry Niehaus; daughters, Linda Browning, Carolyn Harris, and Diane Peveto; grandchildren, Kevin Niehaus and Joy Fazzio; brothers, Robert, Aubrey, Harry, and Donald Weir; sister, Ida Whitlow.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday May 22, 2021 at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating.
