Mary Frances (Muller) Wagner

Mary Frances Wagner, 94, of Mt. Vernon, peacefully entered the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on September 28, 1930, the daughter of Sylvester and Frances (Manning) Muller. Mary Frances was a proud graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, raising her children with love and care. Over the years, she also worked at Posey Lanes and seasonally at Uebelhack Turkey Farm during their busiest times.

Mary Frances had a gift for quilting and sewing, creating treasured quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all else, she was a devoted Christian who deeply loved God and her family. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon until its closure.

She is survived by her children, Tommy (Janet), Ricky (Patsy), Kathrin (Donnie) Hast, and Brent Wagner; grandchildren, Amanda, Greg, Mary, Adam, John, Branden, and Amanda; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Jouchin and Barbara Neaveill; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Wagner; sons, Bobby Gene and David Wagner; grandchildren, Mallery Wagner and Chris Wagner; brothers, Clarence, Albert, and Leo Muller; and sisters, Rose Marie Wagner, Dorothy Coker, and Juliann Friend.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Troy Dekemper officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Premier Healthcare of New Harmony and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care provided to Mary Frances.
