Paula J. (Johnson) Shank

Paula J. Shank, 67, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away on July 16, 2025, at Linda White Hospice.

Born on May 5, 1958, in Tipton, Indiana, Paula was the daughter of Donald Johnson and Dorothy (Short) Hunter. She pursued a career as a roofer and found great joy in her work—being up on a roof was where she felt most at home.

Paula had a creative spirit and was known for her love of collecting. She had a unique talent for transforming discarded items into cherished treasures. Her generous heart extended to all who knew her, especially her friends and family. She held a deep affection for her grandchildren and shared a special bond with animals.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Steve Cage and Cheryl Emmert; her sisters, Shirlie Holmes and Diana Penrod; and her ten grandchildren.

Paula was preceded in death by her beloved significant other, Ron McGuire; her siblings Donnie Johnson, Larry Johnson, Danny Johnson; and her sister Janice Harper.

In accordance with Paula’s wishes, no services will be held. Denning Family Funeral Home is overseeing the arrangements.
