Phyllis C. (Pierce) Shahan

Phyllis C. (Pierce) Shahan, 77, of Carmi, IL formally of Mt. Vernon, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on May 9th, 2022. Phyllis was born in Mt. Vernon on September 10, 1944, to Loveda (Goff) Pierce. She was married to Harold W. Shahan, Sr. and he preceded her in death.

Phyllis was a homemaker providing love and support to her children and husband. As her children grew up and started having children of their own, Phyllis invested her time with her grandchildren and loved spending as much time with them as she could. She also loved riding around Mt. Vernon on her scooter and being outdoors in general. When she was stuck inside she spent a lot of her time coloring. She was a former member of the Church of God Assembly on Munchoff St.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Harold (Nora) Shahan, Jr, April Wells, and Phyllis Kirkpatrick, 11 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death her husband Harold Wayne Shahan Sr ,A son And Daughter, Robert Lee Shahan, Barbara Faye Shahan; brothers, Doug and Glenn Pierce.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Pastor Dallas Robinson officiating.  Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the time of service.
