Ramona G. (Meredith) Mathew

Ramona G. Mathew, 67 of Evansville, IN, passed away on September 14, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.  Ramona was born in Evansville on August 4, 1957. She was the daughter of James and Peggy Meredith.

Ramona was very gifted both vocally and playing the piano. She sang and played in several Gospel groups and met the love of her life, David Mathew during that time as well. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and used her talents to minister to many others. As well as singing and playing piano, she was a very talented song writer, having written more than 20 gospel songs. She wrote 5 new songs in the past month. Ramona and David were both active members of the Apostolic Word of Truth Church in Evansville. Ramona was also a very talented baker and seamstress. She later pursued a career in the nursing field. As an RN she served her community within the Deaconess network for 16 years.

Ramona is survived by her husband, David: son, Jay (Brittney) Mathew; grandchildren, Wyatt and Weston Mathew; siblings, Bill (Gloria) Meredith, Angie (John) Walsh, Stephanie (Rodney) Cole, and Sherry Breeden, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Lillian and Giltner Kingery, son David Mathew Jr, brother, Keith Meredith, and brother-in-law, Donnie Breeden.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday.
