Rick R. Riecken, 72, of rural New Harmony, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side after courageously battling cancer for many years. Rick was born on October 5, 1953, the son of the late Louis Riecken and Martina Weber.
Rick graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and went on to work at GE for 23 years. After working at GE, he purchased a dump truck and spent time hauling rock for a few years. Rick was never one to sit still, and in his retirement worked at the New Harmony State Park, where he assisted with grounds and general maintenance. He also enjoyed sightseeing and driving through the park with his beloved wife.
Rick enjoyed being outdoors and loved deer hunting, gardening, camping, woodworking, and any activity that involved being outside. He was also a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts football team and a very proud American who displayed his patriotic spirit at every opportunity. Above all, Rick loved God, his family and cherished his time with them.
Rick is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Michelle Amerson, Angie (Tsachi) Dahan, Louis (April) Riecken, and Ricky Riecken; grandchildren, Claire, Tyler, Nevaeh, Itzchak, and Noah; brothers, Sonny Riecken, Frank Riecken, Ced Riecken and Mark Weber; sisters, Diana Steele, Michelle Tanner, and Tina Martin; step-father, Bill Weber; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Riecken and Martina Weber; granddaughter, Hope Dahan; and brother, Mark Weber.
Per Rick’s wishes, no services will be held. Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon is overseeing the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
