Roger Thompson, 72, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 5, 2024. Roger was born on January 25, 1952, the son of the late Ralph (Duck) and Virginia Sue (Dausman) Thompson.
Roger is a Mt. Vernon High School graduate. After graduating he joined the Army National Guard and served with them until 1978. Roger retired from SABIC in 2009 after 34 years of employment. Roger's passion was fishing. He loved going fishing, especially when he could take his family along with him. If he wasn’t fishing he could be found in his barn, listening to his oldies. He was also a member of the Point Township Church of the Nazarene.
Roger is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Bryan (Ashley) Thompson, Sam (Anna) Thompson, and Tonya (Robbie) Cox; grandchildren, Cassie (Brandon), Luke (McKenna), Emma, Levi, Grace, Jacklyn, Valerie (Kaaleb), Tori, bonus grandchildren, Kady (Dakota & Cooper) and Reshun & Orion, and is expecting his first great-grandchild; siblings, Susan Rutledge, Bobby Thompson, and Kathy (Charles) Brooks. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jerry and Larry Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Bryan Thompson will officiate with burial to follow in Weiss Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the Point Township Church of the Nazarene.
