Ruth J. Angermeier, 98, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side, on January 29, 2024. Ruth was born in Evansville on March 6, 1925, the daughter of Anthony & Edith (Wissner) Behme. She married Dale “Big Daddy” Angermeier in 1947.
Ruth graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse for Deaconess Hospital and GE Plastics in Mt. Vernon. She was also a 60-year member of the Extension Home Makers Club and was Home Maker of the Year. She was active with the PTA and many other organizations in Posey County. She was a lifetime member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Theresa Thomas; sons, Stephen, Francis, Philip, Walt (Judy), Thomas, and Henry Angermeier; grandchildren, Ann (John) O’Neal, Susan (Jay) Swisher, Sally Quinn, Holly Newman, Eric (Anya) Angermeier, Lauren (Nick) Sprunk, Madison and Alexandra Angermeier, Matthew O’Neil, Shawna O’Neil, and Teegan Wright; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale; sons, David, and Lynn Angermeier; daughter-in-law, Terri Angermeier; son-in-law, Bill Thomas; grandson-in-law, Eric Newman; brother, Harry Behme; and sister, Betty Loehr.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the St. Matthews Church in Mt. Vernon, with Fr. Jim Sauer officiating with burial to follow in St. Matthews Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home, with the Nursing Honor Guard performing their rites at 7:00 pm, and an hour prior to service time at the church. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live on the Denning Family Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 11:00 am.
