Ruth E. Nobles, 83, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at her home on March 31, 2026, with her family by her side. Ruth was born in Vincennes on January 23, 1943, the daughter of Prentice and Cecile (Shoop) Rumble.
Ruth met and married Glen Nobles, Sr. in 1968, and together they built a loving family. Her family was her greatest pride, and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with them. She especially loved spending time with her sweetheart, Glen—whether fishing, camping, or watching old westerns together, those moments meant the world to her.
Ruth also enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league for several years. She had a passion for painting and crafts and enjoyed creating in many forms. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Doris) Goodman, Ruth Ann (Doug) Morris, Chuck Goodman, Marcie (Duane Taylor) Lewis, and Donna (Tim) Stevens; grandchildren, Laycie, Helena, Corey, Melissa, Cassie, Kim, Cody, Timothy, Andrew, Jessica, Kameron, and Xavian; 27 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Linda Rogers and Rose (Dave) Kneer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Prentice and Cecile Rumble; her husband, Glen Nobles, Sr.; her son, Glen Nobles, Jr.; and her sister, Helen Ann Rumble.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Denning Family Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family asks that, in honor of their mother and her love for “bling” and butterflies, attendees wear sparkly or butterfly-themed attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Denning Family Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com.
