Sharon G. (Moore) Berry, 61, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side, after a long battle with Pancreatic and bone cancer on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Sharon was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on August 21, 1962, the daughter of Bobbie Moore and Virgilean Kent.
Sharon married her sweetheart, Robert Berry, of 45 years and he survives.
Sharon worked for Deaconess Hospital as a registered nurse for several years. She later went on to work at Mt. Vernon High School as a custodian to be closer to her grandchildren. She loved to be outside, was a natural at fishing, and could out fish anybody that went with her. She also liked kayaking, shopping, bingo, and going to the casinos. She adored her family and loved every minute that she got to spend with them.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Robyn Murphy and Carrie Krouse-Berry; grandchildren, Hunter Murphy, Kaleb Krouse, and Haley Krouse; siblings, Robert (Wanda) Moore, Johnny (Moneta) Holloman, Howard Nett, James Moore, Monica (Roy) Griest, and Teresa (Dan) Hunsinger; brother-in-law, Timothy Berry; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and on Friday from 3:00 pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Chemo Buddies.
