Shirley Granderson Obituary

Shirley Granderson, 77, of Savah, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on April 8, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1947, in Princeton, Indiana, to Maud R. McCorkle-Winfrey.

A proud graduate of Mt. Vernon Senior High School in 1965 and the Evansville School of Nursing in 1967, Shirley began her career working at Mead Johnson Nutrition. She lovingly took on the role of a devoted stay-at-home wife and mom to raise her kids, and once they started school, she began working seasonally at the Uebelhack Turkey Farm.

Shirley's commitment to her family and community was unwavering. She was a constant presence at her children’s school functions and 4-H events and served as an adult 4-H leader for 24 years. She was also proud of being a lifetime member of the Savah Community Center.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maud R. McCorkle-Winfrey, and her son, L. Andrew "Andy" Granderson.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Russell Granderson; daughter, Brandi (Brandon) Abell; and grandchildren, Rebekah Granderson and Gage Abell.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Bethesda Church, 1793 Savah Rd., with burial to follow at McFadden Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Church or the Savah Community Center.
