Tony L. F. James, Sr.

Tony L. F. James, Sr. 57, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Encompass Health in Newburgh. Tony was born on July 8, 1965, the son of Jesse and Geneva (McCord) James in Fairfield, Illinois.

After graduating High School, Tony joined the United States Army. When he returned home he settled into his job as a truck driver. He was a member of the Booneville American Legion Post #200. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his bike any chance he got. He also enjoyed hunting and being outside. Mostly he loved his family and was his grandchildren’s number one fan.

Tony is survived by his children, Tony (Ashleigh) James, Jr. and Ashely (Austin Puckett) James; grandchildren, Ashton, Anthony, Jaxson James, and Leeroy Puckett; siblings, Ray Cropper, Cody Cropper, and Stephanie Cropper; ex-wife, Edith Cleveland; best friend, Tina Bulla; aunt, Kay McCord; uncle, Roy McCord; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Jesse Ann James, Steve Cropper, and Billie Cropper, and aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Denning Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
