Tracey Lynn (Bruce) Hellenberg, 57, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Terre Haute, IN.
Tracey was born in Evansville, Indiana, to Daniel Bruce and Kathy (McCormick) Horton. She grew up in Mt. Vernon and attended Mt. Vernon Senior High School, where she enjoyed spending time with classmates and participating in school dances and activities.
Throughout her life, Tracey worked in various culinary roles, where her love for connecting with people shined brightly. She never met a stranger and brought warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered.
Tracey’s greatest joy came from the time she spent with her loved ones. She cherished moments with her husband, Randall Hellenberg; her two sons, Joshua Choate and Corey Ricketts; and her beloved dog, Sissy. Her bond with her sister Stacey Brakie was particularly special—two inseparable "peas in a pod" who shared an unbreakable love throughout their lives.
Tracey is survived by her husband, Randall Hellenberg; sons, Joshua Choate and Corey Ricketts; several grandchildren; sister, Stacey Brakie (Rick Bowman); brother, Michael Horton; stepfather, Donald Horton; stepchildren, Amanda Hellenberg and Krystal Hellenberg; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Linda) Hellenberg and Gary Hellenberg; nephews, Justin Brakie and Zack Hellenberg; and niece, Ashley Brakie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Herman and Dorothy Hellenberg.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with burial to follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will take place the same day from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
