Walter “Walt” Kenneth Yeida, Jr., 62, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away on August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Gateway Heart Hospital. Walt had been courageously recovering from open-heart surgery since July 10.
He was born on August 1, 1963, in Evansville to the late Kenneth and Doris (Pindell) Yeida. A 1981 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, Walt proudly served as a U.S. Army Reservist before retiring. He also worked many years as a farm hand with Yeida Farms, McFaddin Farms, and Schnieder Farms.
Walt enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his three beloved granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Hess) Yeida.
Walt is survived by his daughter, Alicia (Adam) Effinger; granddaughters, Bailey, Addison, and Riley; stepson, Blair (Tristie) Reeves; brother, Randy (Sue) Yeida; sister, Bobette (Dennis) Marshall; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Point Township Church of the Nazarene, 12611 Bonebank Rd., Mt. Vernon, IN, with Rev. Bryan Thompson officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at the church. Military rites will follow at the Oak Grove River Camps.
