Obituary

A. Wayne Russell, 67, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at Deaconess Hospital on July 29, 2023. Wayne was born in Uniontown, Ky on November 26, 1955, to the late Jessie and Dorothy (Scott) Russell. Wayne is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kim (Wild) Russell.

Wayne worked in the oil field for many years, but being a cowboy was his passion. He worked on a ranch in Idaho before moving back. He still loved going horseback riding and anything that included his horses. He also likes penguins and collected many of them over the years. His family was his greatest treasure. He enjoyed spending time with them and sharing his passions with them.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Kim; son, Daniel (Alley) Russell; daughters, April Russell and Jessica (Rick) Hill; grandchildren, Breanna Rojas, Peyton Hill, Savanah Hill, Addison Hill, Lilith “Rosebud” Russell, and Zachary Smith; and his dogs and cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.

A visitation will occur on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. Online condolences may be left at denningfamilyfuneralhome.com
