Eddie Jolley Obituary

Eddie L. Jolley, 80, of Carmi, Illinois, went to be with Jesus on April 19, 2023, at his home. He was born May 20, 1942, in Griffin, Indiana the son of Everett Jolley and Vonda Virble (Page) Jolley. He married the love of his life, Gwendolynn S. (Bradley) Jolley, on April 28, 1962, by eloping in Shawneetown, Illinois, they were married for 41 ½ years when she went to be with Jesus on November 26, 2003. His chores are finished, and they are now together in Heaven.

He loved serving the Lord, reading the Bible, and watching old Western movies and Christian movies.  He loved to fish and loved his family very much. He was a Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Steelers and Indiana Hoosiers fan. Eddie & Gwendolyn raised their five children in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and were members of the First Church of the Nazarene. When his daughters were younger he coached their teams in softball. He was the coach for the Handles Bait & Tackle, People Banks, and Duckworth Builders teams. He also helped coach his son’s baseball team when living in Kansas, called the Rosehill team. He and his wife lived in Wichita (1987-1989) and Lived in Florida on Eglin AFB from 2000 through 2002. Being their 1st time ever seeing the beautiful ocean. All five children feel blessed to have the best role models they could have hoped for in this life. He will be missed deeply.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gwendolynn Jolley; sister, Carolyn A. Little; brothers, Ernie, Jerry, and Gene Jolley;  granddaughter, Elizabeth James.

He is survived by his daughters, ReDonna Allen of Carmi, IL, Anna (Ronnie) Cox of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Samantha (Michael) Wright of Mt. Vernon, IN,; sons, Matthew (Angela) Jolley of Fairfield, IL, and Michael (Faith) Jolley of Mt. Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Thomas (Laura) Allen, Christopher (Jessyka) Cox, Andrew (Aleece) Cox, JoAnna (Scott) Girten, Samuel (Carley) Wright, Bradley (Madison Carver) Wright, Ryan (Jessica Shipp) Hall, Jeremy (Adrienne Beadle) Hall, Trisha (Lee) White, Dakotah Jolley, Jannah Jolley, Michael Jolley, Jr., Gwendolynn Jolley; 27 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; brothers, Kenny Jolley, Tommy (Heather) Jolley, and Bobby Jolley; brother-in-law, Rodger Little, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Dennis King will officiate with burial to follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.
