Randall Dale Wilson, 77, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away Tuesday, April 9 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville.
Randy was born in Uniontown, KY to Alfred “Hap” and Dorothy Wilson. He was a 1964 graduate of Mt. Vernon Senior High School. He was a veteran, serving in the National Guard. Randy was a member of the American Legion Post 5, Lions Club, and Keck Gonnerman. He enjoyed tinkering with old tractors and spending time on his boat with family and friends at Kentucky Lake.
Randy was an employee of General Electric, He had worked in Film, Sheet, and Boiler house II, before his retirement in 2000 after 34 years of service. He most recently worked part-time at the Posey County Co-Op, driving tender trucks until his health no longer allowed him to drive.
He was one of the founding parents of POPS (Parents Offering Positive Support) in the late 80’s early 90’s. He was popular with the football team for his hayrides, pulled with his John Deere “Johnny Popper” tractor, and also for the hog roasts at the end-of-season football banquets. He spent many Saturdays grilling burgers for the MV football team so they could eat after their Saturday morning meetings.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Eleanor (Mac) Johnson, Bettye (Kenneth) Oeth, Elaine (Bill) Bradley, Lavonna Sue (Jerry) Stivers, Marvin (Leona) Wilson, William R. (Linda) Wilson, Vernon (Vicki) Wilson; fur babies Patches and Max.
Randy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda (Bradford) Wilson; children Shannon Straw (Rodney)(Kevin Redman); Todd (Chris) Wilson, Dusty (Amy) Wilson; siblings Bess (Lee) Allyn, Beauford (Karen) Wilson; grandchildren Randi (Thad) Sexton, Harli (Benton) Evans, Jake Wilson, Cole Wilson, Dane Wilson; great-grandchildren Hadlee, Graham, Brynlee, Maylee; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Denning Family Funeral Home with Rev. Nathanial Denning officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Newlife Animal Rescue or the Point Township Church of the Nazarene.
